Richard Calmas brings 25+ years experience in financial analysis, manufacturing, consulting, and real estate management and development to his role as Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Neighborhood Pay Services. He is responsible for corporate strategy, business development, and systems operations. Prior to launching NPS, Richard was a private real estate developer in the Boston area and President of a privately-held multifamily property company serving outlying areas. From 1990 – 1997, he served as Director of International Marketing for the COMDEX computer trade shows, specializing in development of exhibitor programming and strategic sales alliances. He helped launch the COMDEX-Israel Connection, and supported sales and programming for COMDEX Europe and Asia. For COMDEX parent company, The Interface Group, Richard evaluated acquisition opportunities in the gaming industry throughout the U.S., complementing his work at Arthur Anderson Consulting in the mid-1980’s, where he evaluated opportunities in the insurance and applied technology fields. Richard is active in local and national politics and serves on the National Board and Massachusetts Council of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and as a member of the board of the Middle East Forum, and the Jewish National Fund. He earned his B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University and his M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Rich Levitan has 20+ years of extensive experience in the development and management of distribution partnerships in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Neighborhood Pay Services, he served as a Managing Director and a Limited Partner of the Kessler Group, the premier strategy, consulting, marketing and investment-banking firm in the credit card industry. At Kessler, Rich helped to develop and manage the relationship and directed marketing activity for several of the industry’s largest endorsed distribution partnerships, including the AFL-CIO, the NRA, and Boat US, working closely with their issuing banks that included MBNA, HSBC, Fleet, Bank of America, First National Bank of Omaha, and others. He led the company’s international expansion in Australia and seven European markets, and helped originate over 10 million new customer relationships across hundreds of endorsed and non-endorsed partnerships.
Rich received a B.A. from Dartmouth College and while Co-Captain of Dartmouth’s Rugby Club, led the team to compete in the finals of the NCAA National Championship in 1986. He went on to compete at an international level as a member of the U.S, Rugby team that was awarded a bronze medal in the 1989 Maccabiah Games in Israel. Rich is involved in a variety of non-profit organizations and serves as a board member of the New England Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Association, and as an advisor to Black Carpenter, a youth empowerment program selected by the United Negro College Fund for their national UNCF HBCU 2011-2012 “Empower Me” Tour.
Phil is a professional with 30-years of experience in the management and operations of information technology and information technology consulting. He has been involved in the day-to-day management of system development projects, the establishment of standards procedures and guidelines for software engineering, quality engineering and change management at major institutions. He has extensive experience in bringing new technologies and software engineering disciplines into financial services. He serves as CTO / Managing Director at HPSquared, a boutique management consultancy focusing on information and data solutions, and was previously the CIO at The Harry Fox Agency and CTO at both TheVitaminShoppe.com and Mibrary. He has also been a Managing Director at SHL SystemHouse with responsibility for its Northeast Region, Vice President of Technology at Citibank and National Director at Coopers & Lybrand.
Ellen brings 25+ years marketing communications experience with Fortune 500 and entrepreneurial companies to her role in strategic planning and marketing and sales support for Neighborhood Pay Services. She has been involved with the company since its founding and is also responsible for corporate positioning, outbound marketing and social networking strategies as well as coordination of partner programs. Ellen has held senior management positions for marketing communications firms serving such clients as Glaxo Wellcome, Bausch & Lomb, Avon Products, Heinz USA, AT&T, The House of Seagrams, among others. She actively supports numerous health, civic and arts organizations throughout the Boston area and currently holds board positions for Silent Spring Institute, a leading research and advocacy group dedicated to identifying links between women’s health and the environment, and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she chairs the Women’s Cancers Advisory Committee and helped launch Grateful Nation, a web-based community outreach platform that raised more than $1 million in its pilot year through a micro-gift and event strategy. Ellen was appointed in 2006 to the Massachusetts Commission on the State of Women, where she served for two years. She received her B.S. from the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.
Katie is a seasoned client services professional with 15 years experience in the financial and professional services industries. Prior to joining Neighborhood Pay Services, she spent the majority of her career in the credit card industry, most notable ten years at MBNA America where she worked in a number of business operations areas managing day-to-day client interaction and retention including outward telesales, consumer finance, telephone access customer service and MBNA training and education. She is an experienced corporate trainer of over 23 different leadership and professional skills topics with expertise in conflict management, internal and external communications, public relations, and business development. Prior to joining NPS, Katie also managed a variety of marketing communications initiatives in the engineering and legal fields, most recently at RDK Engineers in Boston.
Katie earned a B.A. in English and a B.A. in French from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She also studied at the Institute of European Studies in Nantes, France and earned a dual teaching certificate in both English and French. She is a committed member of Boston’s Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and is an active member of New England Women in Real Estate (NEWiRE), where she serves on the organization’s communications committee. A proud mother of eight-year-old twins, Katie is also active in many organizations in and around the town of Milton, MA where she and her family reside.
Evan comes to NPS from sales in the automotive field, where he contributed to financial planning and sales strategy for the Colonial Automotive Group, a chain of New England car dealerships. He also worked for the Mass Transportation Authority in information technology services. At NPS Evan is responsible for client on-boarding and day-to-day client contact and staff training as well as overseeing of resident response protocols. Evan also plays an integral role in development of NPS enrollment and website services. Evan has B.S. from Boston College in Economics and History.
