At NPS, we know that the best rent payments are on-time rent payments and that the only sure way to predict a prospective resident’s future payment reliability is to provide them with the structure for responsible management of their paycheck.
That’s the core of our Rent Assurance program – the prerequisite that the prospective resident initiate direct deposit of a prorated portion of their pay to NPS from their employer or, in the case of benefit recipients, their primary source of income (e.g. pension or social security distributions), on a pay period basis.
We know that the applicant’s deliberate effort to initiate payroll direct deposit through their employer demonstrates their future intent to pay rent on time, regardless of past payment practices that may have negatively impacted their credit score. |
